About studio/stage

A former photography studio for cars and food, studio/stage is a unique and versatile performance space with a signature 3-sided white cyc wall that’s perfect for lighting effects and projections.

studio/stage is a user-friendly, flexible, and multi-purpose production and event space suitable for: live performance, theatre, photo shoots, fashion shows, film shoots, music video shoots, screenings, classes, parties, events, fundraisers, showcases, art openings, casting sessions, rehearsals, readings, recitals, product demos and intros, press conferences, team meetings, seminars, workshops, traffic school, international peace conferences, third party political conventions, a change of venue, juntas, speed dating events, religious services, and everything short of a Cub Scout meeting.

Please note that at this time we are not accepting bookings for studio/stage past April 15th, 2024.

Parking
 

studio/stage features a gated parking lot with 5 parking spaces available during the day, and 10 parking spaces on evenings and weekends.

There are a number of metered parking spaces on Western directly in front of the venue. Meters are active until 6pm Monday-Saturday.

There is usually street parking on the surrounding side streets, Clinton, Maplewood, and Oxford.

General Rules
  • No smoking in the building or back parking lot
  • Alcohol is allowed on-site for private events with prior written approval from the Venue
  • Events or productions that wish to sell alcohol as part of concessions must secure the proper temporary permitting

Lighting
 
Natural Light

The theater space does not have access to natural light.

The lobby has plentiful natural light via a large window in the west-facing storefront wall

The natural light in the lobby can be blacked out via blackout curtains

 
Lighting Equipment

The theater space uses fluorescent fixtures for general work lighting.

For classes, workshops, events, and productions, the space is equipped with a general repertory plot. The plot consists of:

  • 12x Source 4 Leko w/ 50 degree lenses
  • 2x ColorTran Lekos w/ variable focus lenses
  • 12x Blizzard LP Hex PAR RGBAW+UV LED wash lights
  • 5x Strand Iris 1-Cell 1k Cyc Lights (2 Red, 2 Blue, 1 Green)
  • Dimmer rack w/ 36 dimmers
  • ETC Nomad Lighting Control System

Productions are not allowed to alter the focus, position, or patch of the existing light plot, but they are allowed to add to it.

Productions are welcome to bring in their own supplemental lighting equipment, or use any additional lighting units we have in stock on site.

Our resident lighting designer is available for productions and events in this space. Additional fees and equipment rental may apply.

Theatrical Sound System

studio/stage is equipped with a 5.1 surround sound system and amp In turn, connected to a laptop running QLab v5

The space is also equipped with a Shure wireless hand microphone and mic stand

 
HD Projector

studio/stage is equipped with a NEC NP-502H 1080P HD Projector HDMI cable that extends to the booth. Bookings can connect to the projector using their own laptops via HDMI connection, or load their video files onto our laptop running QLab v5. There is also a secondary HDMI cable connection available on stage

Rear entrance has a loading dock with 14' elephant door that allows for the load-in and load-out of large items

 
Staging area is available

The space has two dressing rooms and a full kitchen. Also, for events shooting on our stage, makeup and wardrobe typically like to set up in the front lobby

 
Some rooms are off-limits for shooting

No one is permitted in the office without express advance permission.

 
Shooting the exterior of the building is allowed
 
Please note that some productions and events may require the presence of an on-site representative at an additional fee.

Circuit breakers are accessible

Circuit breakers are located behind the bookshelf in the green dressing room. Ask Greg for access. There are power outlets throughout the space, including 3 sets of outlets on stage

Additional Rules for Productions & Events
 
Production/Event insurance is required

Minimum $1 million in general liability coverage. If you do not have your own general liability insurance, you can purchase a rider for this location through The StageCrafts.

 
Furniture and decorations may be moved

There are a number of stock furniture pieces and hand props that can be used, but they must be put back in the order illustrated in the storage areas.

Looking to add sound and/or video to your booking? Book our QLab Programming services, and one of our resident designers will be happy to take your sound and video assets and program them into our system for pitch-perfect playback.

 
Livestream Broadcasting

Why perform only for the audience in the room, when your production or event can be broadcast worldwide? Included in our Livestreaming package is a three-camera setup that we can use to broadcast to the streaming destination of your choice. If you don't have an account on a suitable destination, you may be able to use The StageCrafts' own YouTube channel for your initial broadcast.

 
General Liability Insurance

All bookings and events are required to have at least $1 million in general liability coverage. If you do not have your own General Liability policy, you can purchase a rider on ours. Your coverage is good at any of our venues for any event you may book between date of purchase until our master policy renews on May 1st each year.

 
Press Release Composition

Want to get the word out about your show or event, but don't have a press agent? You can hire our publicist to compose a professional press release for you. As a bonus, they will provide you with a list of press outlets and contacts suitable to reach out to about your event!

 
Ticketing and Box Office Services

List your event or production on our ticketing platform for free, and take home 100% of your ticket sales! Pair this with our Livestreaming Services to sell virtual tickets to your event, and with our Box Office Manager for us to handle your ticketing and box office services for you. Lighting Equipment

studio/stage is equipped with a simple repertory plot. If your event or production requires a more robust lighting solution, we do have additional lighting units available to rent that can be added to the grid.

 
Sound Equipment

If you have a production with multiple audio inputs, we have a Behringer Xenyx X1832USB Premium 18-Input 3/2-Bus Mixer with USB/Audio Interface available for rent.

{This space was a great find. We hosted my daughter’s surprise graduation dinner for about 33 ppl. We were able to fit Two rows of 3 tables on stage plus two tables in between the rows for food trays. We used the front lobby as a photo booth area and once dinner was over, the guests moved to the theater seating for karaoke. Greg was super helpful! We used his projector, computer, and speakers to play YouTube songs and display the lyrics on the white wall on stage and our karaoke machine for the mics. Greg was super accommodating and was ok with us extending our time for an extra two hours that night and a couple hours before, that morning for set up. Would definitely book again!

{The hosts were very responsive and helpful with all of my questions. They were available via email and phone call and took the time to set up the space exactly as requested. The front room was a cute space for attendees to snack and take a break from the day's meeting. If bringing food, I would advise bringing items that don't depend on using a kitchen. The stage and seats were cozy. It was a little tight for the type of meeting that we held (~23 people) where table space and a chair were necessary for each person.
