LOS ANGELES, CA – Joan Q, the comic clairvoyant with a morbid wit and an open heart, makes her Hollywood Halloween debut at SpookyFest 2026. JOAN Q, GENUINE INTUITIVE, an interactive psychic comedy séance of tarot readings, cosmic gossip and guests with strange true stories, plays three Scorpio season performances at The Hobgoblin Playhouse: Saturday, October 24 at 10:00 PM, Sunday, October 25 at 1:30 PM, and a final séance on Wednesday, October 28 at 7:00 PM. The show is one of eleven live productions at SpookyFest, Hollywood’s horror theatre and short film festival, running October 22 through November 3.
“I’m thrilled to bring Joan Q to SpookyFest! This will be her first Hollywood Halloween season, and there is perhaps no spookier, bewitching, or celebrity-séance-conducive theater in all of Los Angeles than the Hobgoblin Playhouse!” said Kevin Eggleston, creator of Joan Q.
Part old-school celebrity psychic and part tarot-reading talk show comic, Joan Q reads tarot and astrology for volunteers from the audience and for her special guests. No two séances are alike, and nothing is scripted.

“Joan Q was first inspired by my comic portrayal of the historical person of Nancy Reagan’s astrologer at shows and parties in DC. Today, she’s her own entity—part old-school celebrity psychic, part tarot-reading talk show comic, and part me. Joan Q is the right side of my brain taken to intuitive extremes, and while she was born as pure comedy, as she learned how to read Tarot, astrology, and her guests, it felt like she was touching upon something truly enchanted. This show, Joan Q Genuine Intuitive, grew out of that tension. Joan is camp & ridiculous, but she takes the person sitting across from her completely seriously, with her heart on her chiffon & her third eye wide open.”
At SpookyFest, Joan Q welcomes special guest Tabatha Myers on Saturday, October 24, Justine Hipsky at the final séance on Wednesday, October 28, and has a special surprise guest planned for Sunday, October 25th. Participation is entirely optional: audience members who would rather watch than be read are welcome to simply enjoy the show.
“You should come because I genuinely don’t know what’s going to happen during these spooky Scorpio themed shows—but with Joan Q reading the room–something magical always does. It’s a little risky, and quite exciting, and so rewarding–there’s no script or fourth wall for Joan or the audience to hide behind, yet all participation & on-stage tarot readings are voluntary. For Joan Q, the audience or her special guests (like her SpookyFest guests Justine Hipsky and Tabatha Myers) are never the butt of the joke, nor is belief in the unexplained—the joke is the absurdity of what we’re all tasked to endure in this life. And the enchantment is the result of facing the morbid truth with honesty & wit, together.”
Eggleston added, “No one takes better care of her audience than Joan, who after all describes herself first as a hostess, then a comedienne, and finally, her spooky self-discovery: as a genuine intuitive.”
Before SpookyFest, Joan Q played a nightly run at the 2026 Edinburgh Festival Fringe through PBH’s Free Fringe at The Outhouse Beer Garden on Broughton Street Lane.
